The new budget proposal from Rep. Paul Ryan (R—Wisc.) would not jive with where Pope Francis I stands, says Obery Hendricks, professor of biblical interpretation at New York Theological Seminary. The new pope has been known for caring for the poor, while Ryan proposes a budget opposite of what the pope represents, Hendricks says. “We need to sit down and look at these budgets as moral documents,” he said.
